Note from Mike – Lessons From Jonah

September 29, 2016

I’m having so much fun Running with the Giants of our faith! Exploring the lives of people like David and Abraham, who became giants in the faith, strengthens our faith and our ability to trust God.

Our theme verse for this series is Hebrews 12:1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Each week we imagine one of these giants of the faith coming down from heaven and taking a lap with us! As we read their stories in the Bible, we learn major life lessons that provide priceless wisdom for running the race God has marked out for each of us. If you’ve missed any of these messages, you can watch them here.

This week we’re inviting Jonah, a colorful and controversial prophet, to come down out of the stands and join us on the racetrack of life. It’s going to be fun and somewhat suspenseful to hear from this reluctant messenger of God. Cliffhanger Alert: At the end of the Bible account, God poses a question to Jonah and . . . well, you’ll just have to hear the story.

We’re going back to the Holy Land! Every time we take a trip to Israel, we get the same response from our travelers, “This trip changed my life!” Some of our church family members have made this incredible journey more than once. Why? Because every time, their life change goes to another level.

When you walk where Jesus walked and stand in the places described in the Bible, you’ll never be the same. I promise that, after being in the Holy Land, the Bible will come alive in ways you never imagined.

If you know you’re going, want to go, or just need some more information to help you decide, I’d love to meet with you this Sunday afternoon, October 2, at 5pm in the chapel.

Have a great rest of your week and I’ll see you Sunday!
